New Students Orientation Beach Retreat:
AUGUST 23rd (9am-4pm). Meeting at the Student Center at 9am and leaving to Key Biscayne – Crandon Park. We will be back at 4pm! Gathering, laughing, take the sun, eat together, pray together and KAYAKING together!
Kick-Off Sunday Mass followed by Ice Cream Social:
Kick-off the Week COFFEE- MORNING PRAYER: MONDAYS
(9:15 am to 9:25am). Starting AUGUST 25TH. Enjoy your first cup of coffee of the week after quick morning prayer in between change of classes!
Young Adult Group:
Starting SEPTEMBER 3rd
. Aware of the need of a space for the resident students where they can join for prayer and reflection with other friends and also, sensitive and open to the interfaith dimension of the University’s diverse population, Student’s leaders and Resident Assistants will ignite weekly prayer and reflection. The goal of the group is prayer, reflection and discussion of topics that concern College students in light of the Gospel. Wednesday night 7:30pm. Residence Halls. Beginning Wednesday, September 3rd
Women’s Bible Study Group:
Starting SEPTEMBER 4th
. Campus Ministry invites you to will develop a new Bible study which will be run by STU volunteers. The Bible study program will be offered to STU Students, Faculty, and Staff. Thursdays 3pm. Men’s Bible Study group TBA
RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults:
Starting in OCTOBER. RCIA is offered to students who would like to join the Catholic Church and receive their sacraments. Together, we will experience joy when you receive your sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Everyone is welcome to participate and learn about the Catholic Faith.
Do you enjoy SINGING OR PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT? St. Thomas University invites STU students who would like to sing or play an instrument at the Ministry of Music. We invite those students with musical gifts and talents in order to create a Music team for the 2014-15 academic year. Sign up in Campus Ministry OR at Sunday Mass at 7pm – Dooner Hall 114.
Beginning Sunday, SEPTEMBER 7th
. Join the Residents the first Sunday of the Month for Sunday Mass offered especially for the students who live on Campus. Followed by Gathering in Residence Halls. Sundays at 7pm at the Chapel of Saint Anthony.
Zumba with Campus Ministry:
Join Campus Ministry, exercise and have a great time dancing at the Gym! Time TBA.
Retreats & Spiritual Enrichment:
Contact Campus Ministry for details about upcoming retreats: 1) New Student Beach Retreat
– In the beginning of the Fall semester, there will be a one-day beach retreat offered specifically to new and transferred students (sign up in orientation week!) Retreat will be open to any STU student who is interested to grow in her/his faith and be part of the community. 2) Lenten Retreat
– Hosted at the beginning of the Lenten season. 3) Intercollegiate Retreats
– Hosted by other universities in the Archdiocese of Miami (UM, Barry, & FIU).
Mass & Sacramental Life:
Mass is celebrated DAILY at 12:15pm and Sundays at 7:00pm. Students, Faculty, and Staff who would like to offer a Mass for a departed soul can request a Mass Card on the Campus Ministry website or contact the office. If interested in receiving Sacraments of the Catholic Church such as RCIA, Baptism, Marriage, Confession, or Anointing of the Sick, visit our Campus Ministry page or contact us.
Training for Eucharistic Ministers, Readers, & Altar Servers:
Any student or staff member who is interested in reading or helping during Mass? Everyone is Welcome! Training will be in September.
