Message from the Director

The Office of Physical Plant is committed to providing excellent support services to St. Thomas University’s students, faculty, staff and visitors. We take pride in maintaining the highest standards of comfort and safety throughout St. Thomas University’s sprawling campus and many facilities.

Through the efforts of our dedicated staff, we maintain over 140 acres of land and over 350,000 square feet of building space. The Office of Physical Plant operates and maintains the electrical, lighting and water systems as well as the air conditioning and chilled water plant and distribution systems. The Office of Physical Plant is divided into four basic departments: housekeeping services, grounds maintenance, general building maintenance and contract services.

Requesting service from the Office of Physical Plant can be accomplished by submitting an online work order at (in the case of an emergency please contact me directly at 305-628-6593). Once a service request is received, a work order is assigned, prioritized and disseminated to the appropriate department. While every effort is made to respond to service requests in a timely manner (normally within 24 hours), there are occasions when work must be deferred due to parts or manpower availability.

We strive to provide our customers the highest quality service possible. We realize that there may be times when the service provided by our department is not up to your expectations and we encourage you to provide any feedback, whether positive or negative, to our Administrative Coordinator Jacqueline Ordehi at extension 6594 or via e-mail at You may also contact me directly.

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope that you keep St. Thomas University in mind for your educational needs.
