2017 Golf & Tennis Tournament – FAQs


Q.  When is the tournament?
A.  The Fore the Love of Education 2017 Golf & Tennis Tournament will be Friday, April 8, 2016. Golf (shotgun start) will begin at 1:00 p.m. and tennis (round robin) will begin at 3:00 p.m.

 
Q.  Where is the tournament being held?
A.  The tournament is being held at The Diplomat Golf & Tennis Club, located at 501 Diplomat Parkway, Hallandale, FL 33009.

 
Q.  Where is the money going?
A.  All of the money raised from this event will benefit our Pathways to Leadership Campaign which supports student scholarships, internships, faculty and student research, and athletics.

 
Q.  How do I sign up?
A.  Signing up is easy! You can sign up online using a credit card. Please visit the REGISTER / DONATE page to get started. You can also mail in your completed registration form. Your registration must be received by Monday, April 17, 2017, in order to reserve your spot in the tournament. Please mail your completed registration form and payment to:

Q.  Who do I make my check payable to?
A.  Please make your check payable to St. Thomas University.

 
Q.  Are you accepting corporate sponsorships?
A.  Of course! We rely on sponsors to help us raise funds for our Pathways to Leadership Campaign, and would love your help!  Please visit the SPONSORSHIPS page for a list of available sponsorship opportunities.

 
Q.  Are you accepting donations if I am unable to attend or sponsor?

Q.  If I am not playing in the tournament, can I still attend the cocktail reception?
A.  Yes! Guests are invited to join us at the cocktail reception and awards ceremony. You may purchase cocktail reception tickets by visiting the REGISTER / DONATE page. You can also purchase tickets by selecting the “Cocktail Reception Guest” box on the registration form and mail it along with your payment (checks payable to St. Thomas University) to:

Q.  What is the deadline to register for a corporate foursome / individual golfer / individual tennis player?
A.  The deadline to register for a corporate foursome, individual golfer or individual tennis player is Monday, March 28, 2016.


Q.  What is the deadline to provide player names and shirt sizes?
A.  The deadline to submit player names and shirt sizes is Monday, March 28, 2016.


Q.  What if I don’t have a foursome?
A.  No problem! Just click on the Individual Golfer option on the REGISTER / DONATE page.  We will pair you up with other players to complete a foursome. Your registration must be received by Monday, March 28, 2016 in order to reserve your spot in the tournament.


Q.  Where do I park?
A.  Discounted valet parking is available to tournament participants and cocktail reception guests at a rate of $13 per vehicle. You may also self-park at a rate of $8 per vehicle.


Q.  Can I rent golf clubs, golf shoes and tennis racquets?
A.  Absolutely! The Diplomat Pro Shop for has equipment available for rental. Golf clubs are $60 per set plus 6% tax and spiked golf shoes are $20 plus 6%tax per pair. Pricing for tennis racquets will be posted here soon.


Q.  What do I wear?
A.  The Diplomat suggests attendees wear collared shirts, long pants or walking shorts. The following attire is not permitted on the courses: t-shirts, tank tops, athletic shirts, cut-off’s or jeans. Metal spiked golf shoes are not allowed.


Q.  Do I have to change out of golf/tennis clothes prior to the cocktail reception?
A.  No, you do not have to change out of your golf/tennis clothes to attend the cocktail reception. However, if you wish to shower and change prior to the reception, male and female locker room facilities will be available.


Q.  What payment options will be accepted at the Silent Auction?
A.  We will accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards.
